FAQ

  • How do I take the prints?
You will receive a printing kit and full instructions on how to take the print. If you have ordered a fingerprint charm, we will send enough fingerprinting putty to take the print twice. It's best to use either the index or middle finger as the print is more defined.

If you have ordered a hand or footprint charm, you will receive a special sheet of paper with an inkless wipe which is safe to use with babies. Just wipe the hand or foot and press onto the sheet of paper, preferably on top of a hard background. The print will then appear on the paper.

Once you have taken the print, return them to Tiny Tots in the stamped addressed envelope provided.
  • Can you take the prints for me?
We are now located in Dublin so unfortunately cannot personally take prints in the UK.  Please do contact us if you have any questions on how best to take the prints.
  • Do you have any tips on taking prints?
Wait until your child is calm and feeling relatively happy or, alternatively, fast asleep!

For the fingerprint, use the thumb, forefinger or middle finger for a more defined print. Hold the putty up to the light to check the quality of the print as it will need to be clearly visible to make a clear impression on the silver.

For hand and footprints, make sure you wipe all areas of the hand or foot. Place the paper on something solid, like a book, and hold the hand or foot firmly in place for a few seconds. For young children and babies, it can help to sit them in a high chair so that you can use both hands. If in doubt, wait until someone can help out with an extra pair of hands.

If you are unhappy with the quality of the prints, just let us know and we will send out an extra printing kit.
  • Are there any age limits on the fingerprints or hand and footprints?
It is difficult to get a well defined fingerprint from a child under the age of 18 months to 2 years. There is no upper age limit on fingerprints and no age restrictions at all on hand or footprints.
  • Can I use a hand or footprint which wasn't taken using your inkless kit?
Yes, we can work with any hand or footprint. You will not need to send the original to us, just send a photocopy or scan and email it to us.
  • How will I let you know how I would like my charm to look?
You can provide some information when ordering the charm but you will also be sent an order form which sets out the shapes of the charms, if you would like a kiss (x) after the name etc. If you have any special requests not set out on the order form, just write me a quick note or send me an email and I will let you know if it is possible.
  • I have a very clear idea of where on the charm I would like the print and where I would like the name, can this be accommodated?
There is usually no problem at all with this. If you like, you can draw an outline of how you would like the charm set out and if there are any logistical problems with this, I will let you know before beginning work.
  • Can the name be included in my handwriting?
Absolutely. Most of our charms include the name in the writing of the customer. There is a space on the order form for you to write out the name as you would like it to appear.
  • How big are the charms?
As all items are handmade, the size of the charms may vary slightly from those shown below:

Standard Charms
    • Heart - 1.75cm x 1.75cm
    • Circle - 1.5cm x 1.5cm

    • Oval - 2.1cm x 1.7cm
    • Leaf - 2cm x 2cm
    • Dogtag Charm - 1.8cm x 2.5cm
  • How long does it take for the jewellery to be made?
On average, it takes between 2-3 weeks to make the jewellery after receiving the prints so if you are ordering for a birthday etc, do try to order well in advance. If you are working to a shorter timescale, contact us before ordering and we may be able to accommodate you. Remember that we do provide gift vouchers either for a piece of jewellery or a sum of money towards a piece of jewellery if there isn't enough time to produce the finished product in time. The advantage of this is that the recipient can decide exactly how they would like their jewellery to look.
  • How do I go about sending my artwork picture to you?
You can send your artwork to us by email or post. Once you have sent the picture through, we will let you know what shape charm will best accommodate it if you are unsure.
  • How much is P&P?
P&P costs €7 and includes a stamped addressed envelope to return your prints and the cost of sending the finished item to you by recorded delivery.
  • Will you keep in touch once the print has been sent?
Yes, we will contact you to let you know that we have received your prints and again to tell you that your order has been dispatched.
  • Can prints be re-used for further orders?
We keep all prints for a minimum of 12 months and can reuse them for further orders. We will undertake further pieces at a discounted price so please do contact us before ordering.
  • Are the charms made from real silver?
All of our charms are made from fine silver which contains a higher silver content than sterling silver. Because the silver content is higher, the charms can be damaged if dropped or if they consistently hit other hard objects.
  • How should I care for my jewellery?
Your charm should be cleaned with a special jewellery polishing cloth. If your charm has been blackened, please do not immerse it in a jewellery cleaning solution as it will remove the black effect.
  • Do you accept international orders?
Yes, we often receive orders from as far away as Canada! Inevitably P&P will be a bit more expensive so please contact us before ordering so that we can provide you with a postage quote and send you an invoice for payment.
